On Purpose

What does it mean to live an intentional life?  This phrase is tossed about in esoteric circles, in the media, and in a multitude of different social groups. So what does it mean and can it be applicable to everyone?

Living an intentional life is applicable to everyone and basically means to live with greater purpose and direction, preferring order over chaos. Intentionality provides an opportunity to achieve what you set forth to accomplish, utilizing your time and energy in a determined, more productive way, with meaningful results.

How can you create greater joy, purpose, and fulfillment based upon your personal values, belief, and goals? Here are just a few ideas:

  • Prioritize. Determine what is important to you.  What is worthy of your time and energy?
  • Decide what you want in your life. Then, go for it, by
setting realistic, achievable goals in order to reach your
    dreams and aspirations.
  • Take small and intentional steps to assist in obtaining long term goals
  • Make sure you aspirations align with your beliefs and values.
  • Be kind and gracious to yourself.
  • Stay focused. Review your goals when you get up every day.
  • Seek support in achieving your goals and dreams.

Author and therapist, Lisa Olivera stated in her book “Already Enough: A Path to Self-Acceptance”, that living with intention:

  • Develops a greater sense of agency in our lives
  • Provides access to our own power
  • Allows and supports individuals in feeling focused, present, in tune, adept, creative, and capable

Living with intention, allows us to be congruent with who we truly are and brings greater satisfaction, meaning, and fulfillment to our lives.
